QQ-June Challenge-Create your own Background

Good Morning Scrappers.  Hope you are enjoying the weather where you are, here in south western Ontario, summer is on its way!  Its June and time to bring you a challenge from Karan.

I love the powder puff chalk inks and I am always looking for another way to use them.  I wanted to challenge you to create a background using these inks.  You can also incorpoate stamps and masks to add some detail.  Here is what i came up with.

First, i thought i would grab the papers i wanted to work with, i then matched powder puff inks to coordinate with the papers.

Papers are from the Je T'aime line and the inks i used are: Biscotti, Banana Bliss, Tahiti, Baja Blue, Purple Passion and Very Berry. not shown in this photo is Midnight Confessions. it was added later.

I began my prepping my canvas with Banana Bliss and Biscotti

i then added Tahiti, Baja Blue, and Purple Passion

i used a 6x6 reversed chicken wire crafters template along with midnight confessions chalk ink, added some texture paste. heat set to dry

then with a blending tool, i added midnight confessions to the texture paste areas of the canvas

I had some bubble wrap and added some bja blue to it and stamped on the canvas.
i love how this turned out.  I made sure the chalk inks were completely dry before i went onto creating my final project.

here are some detail shots

Materials Used:
Quick Quotes: Papers are from the Je T'aime line

Maya Road-Jonathon Chipboard, and Memory Box Border Dies.

Be sure to link your project so we can see what you come up with using Quick Quotes Powder Puff Inks!

~~enabler alert~Memory Box

Have I told you how much I love dies? be it Sizzix, (especially anything Tim Holtz), Spellbinders, anything thats unique and cuts beautifully with a crisp edge, i love and need to have as i use them in my designs! I have to say i have been using more dies in my workshops over my cricut lately.

Well Sheila from Scrappin Great Deals had these Memory Box dies in stock and I thought i would buy some to try them out! Oh my gosh! LOVE these dies!!! Like seriously, the detail on these dies are pretty incredible! I cannot get enough of them, i have since purchased a few more and have a pre order now with the new releases coming Mid June.

I will be using them on my next workshop as shown here in the border

isnt that fabulous, the scallop border and all the intricate cuts on this die, dont you just want one for yourself!Imagine the possibilities with these!

I encourage you to take advantage of the Pre Order Special Sheila is offering right now, if you order before June 11, you will save 20% on these awesome dies. (seriously!!)  They will work in most die cutting machines ( i use a big shot and they work beautifullly) and it cuts all the intricate details without a problem!

Happy Scrapping!

Happy Scrapping

copics where have you been?

so i headed into my scrap room today to finish up some projects.  I had every intention of creating a card for May Inspiration for Quick Quotes. Well, i created the wrong style that was posted for the Design Team (ha) so lucky for you im sharing it here today.

It has been forever since i dug out my Copic Markers, i think its been over 6 months since i last sat down and played with them, i felt it was due time I did that.  I went on the hunt for some cute digital images and found this one at Christy Kroll also known as Tiddly Inks.  This is the first time i coloured digital images printed on my printer, gosh was i being brave today.....imagine if it didnt work ( i really need to refresh my copic stamp collection, ones i have are, well, old) :P

I wanted to use copic colours that went with the paper i had chosen from Quick Quotes.

To begin with my card, i used the Spellbinders Grand Calibur Labels 11 die to create my shaped card, Pattern paper is from Quick Quotes Julie je T'aime 200 Paper, and i used Powder Puff Chalk Ink Very Berry to stamp my sentiment. also used Picot Edge Circles by Spellbinders. twine is from The Twinery!

its such a cute shaped card, and being i haven't coloured in so long,
i now want to go colour some more!

Happy Copic-ing :)

Moments in Time and G45

 Good Morning Scrappers:

Hope you all enjoyed your long weekend this past weekend here in Ontario.  The weather was fabulous and hubby and I managed to get alot done.  We also celebrated my youngest son's 13th Birthday, gosh hard to believe my baby is 13 already!

I had shared last week a project with you that I designed as a workshop  for Scrappin Great Deals for June, and thought, hmm, i wonder if Graphic 45 would like to see it! So i submitted it to their online gallery hoping it might get accepted!  I logged onto their gallery this morning, and there it was!

I used Graphic 45 Olde Curiosity Shoppe line ) papers, stickers, chipboard) along with Quick Quotes Laser Cut Clock, Maya Road and October Afternoon Mists!  The flatboard canvas was painted with metallic paints and I used Crafters Workshop templates to add some features. The picture doesnt do this project justice, there are layers of Graphic 45 goodness on this project!

Would you  like  to join me and create this beautiful off the page project? I have it scheduled as a workshop at Scrappin Great Deals for June 12th, its a evening workhsop and I have scheduled 3 hours for you to complete it. This will be a perfect project for family photos or any sepia, black and whites you wish to showcase.  Keep it for yourself or give it away just in time for Fathers Day!

hope to see you there!

she is adorable

Good Morning Girlfriends: today is my day to host the Quick Quotes blog and I wanted to share with you a layout using Tin Type Line.

Since we are featuring chalk inks this month, i wanted to show you how awesome these chalk inks are.  I had  a 12x12 corrugated sheet of cardboard.  I cut some strips from it, painted it white with gesso and set aside to dry.  Once they were dry, i grabbed Mango Mai Tai, Maja Blue, and Tahiti and went over the painted corrugated to achieve the look i wanted.

I also used the Bag o Chips Flowers on this layout.  I painted them all with white gesso first, i wanted them to grab the true colours from the inks to match the colours in the Tin Type Papers.  One of the flowers has the petals cut a little deeper so I folded the edges in to make the flower look more realistic.

By chalking the edges first then pulling the colour into the center with a blending tool, i was able to achieve the look above.  The brads were pewter, and i also dipped them in the chalk ink to colour them.

I used letters from the timber alphabet from Pink Paislee and covered them in mocha mama chalk ink,  I love how the letters turned out, it really pulls the page together.

I used two office tags in the layout, one which i covered in mango mai tai, and the other in Baja Blue.  Once dry, i stamped over the tags using a script stamp and mocha mama chalk ink.  I hope this layout inspires you to pull out your chipboard, gesso and those chalk inks, im sure you will love them as much as I do :)

Quick Quotes Materials used:
Tin Type 100, Tin Type 300, Tin Type 400, Bag o Chips-Flowers
